Continuous improvement is the backbone of Defining Heights. The best way to maintain this with any efficacy is to constantly reevaluate your habits. Habits are routine behaviors that we repeat regularly. Your habits are what ultimately guide your success. The evaluation of current habits and implementation of improved habits is a skill.
My habits tend to be triggered by newfound goals. Through my desire to improve I often seek opportunities for growth. If I find that I need to add something to my routine to assist in achieving a goal I will focus on the process of habit creation. So what would that process look like? As you may know repetition is the name of the game.
Let's take a goal as simple as doing 100 crunches a day. Take an incremental approach to accomplishing this. Start your first day by doing 5 crunches when you wake up. Gradually add 5 more crunches over time.
What happens if you miss a day? Keep in mind failure is part of life. Use this "imperfection" as a motivation. Perspective is key. We are human and we will never achieve perfection. What we can strive for is consistency.
The best ways to maintain consistency are to be patient and reward yourself each time you take action on a habit. You have to enter a mindset that good things take time. You must also understand the power of dopamine. Simply rewarding your small victories will with things that excite you. This could be coffee or something as simple as posting your progress on social media.
Identify your goal, take a deep breath, look in the mirror and say, "I got this!" Remember. Make small attainable goals, be patient and reward yourself often. "Through dedication and passion there is no height you can't reach."
