What's Your Motivation?

Motivation is the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way. The prioritization of such acts are purely individual. My perspective is that the why should be based on how critical it is to your success. With that being said what's more critical of an investment in time and energy than your health? How can we motivate , inspire or enjoy anything if our health is deteriorating?

Some of us are self motivated which is amazing. What about those of you who are not? Where do we find this elusive 10 letter word? Again this is based on the individual. There is some thought that goes into finding your motivation. Are you extrinsically motivated . For instance, motivated by financial gain, praise, awards, or recognition? Are you motivated by intrinsic desires such as joy, relief , achievement, or reassurance?

Without genuine thought into what your true motivation is you can easily take the unsavory path of addiction. Addiction is typically sourced by both extrinsic and intrinsic motivation but is unhealthy and toxic in nature. It can be driven by guilt , shame , anxiety, and ultimately withdrawal.

Motivation has to be nurtured. It all starts with an idea. Make attainable goals that align with said idea. Create a good support system by maintaining a good attitude (practical optimism) and openly communicating your goals and ideas. Your performance will naturally improve and you will successfully attain your goal.

Why the emphasis on motivation in regards to health and fitness? Motivation is a form of self-awareness which ultimately is a major component of mental health. As I have preached before the healthy/active lifestyle is much bigger than superficial needs. My motivation is building/ uniting a community of people who look to positively effect others through health and wellness. I would love to convert you to the healthy/active lifestyle, in hopes that you share your successes with the world and continue to build awareness.
